Case Study: Improving Access to High Speed Broadband in Claudville, VA with TV White Spaces

TV white spaces appear ready to usher in exciting and innovative applications and services for both consumer and enterprise users.On October 21, 2009, Spectrum Bridge announced that it had deployed the world’s first TV white spaces network in Claudville, Virginia. The network is being used to distribute high speed internet access to the town’s business district, local school and other locations in the community. The FCC’s first policy statement regarding Secondary Spectrum Markets in November 2000 launched the initiative for reforms regarding licensed spectrum; one that actively encourages spectrum owners to sublease their spectrum for creative and competitive applications.
