Over the last few years Spectrum Bridge has created the most comprehensive and detailed commercial spectrum databases available. These databases, the core of our technology vision, provide the basis for a number of the tools and services provided by Spectrum Bridge. The detail of the information contained spans validated ownership information to pricing and valuation, all available with easy to use and intuitive search tools.

Universal Spectrum Access Solution

Starting with a solid database foundation, Universal Spectrum Access (USA) builds upon multiple components, leading to greater availability and access to wireless spectrum and the efficient allocation of spectrum and bandwidth within a wireless network. Below we show the multi-layered approach to spectrum and network access and allocation:

  • The Database Layer -- A Database Centric Architecture for wireless networks.
  • The Information Layer -- Leverages all network and device resources to determine the real time network performance and the availability of spectrum and bandwidth.
  • The Transaction Layer – Matches the spectrum and network availability with the real time demand and use of bandwidth to provide user access and optimized resource allocation within the network.

Database Driven Technology

The core database driving USA contains the entire realm of resources available to network operators and users to obtain the highest level of performance and availability.  Spectrum Bridge's database provides detailed information on the availability of spectrum and network resources including:

  • Secondary Market Spectrum availability, location, bandwidth and pricing
  • Unlicensed spectrum in the 900 MHz, 2.4, GHz, and 5 GHz bands
  • TV White Space spectrum
  • Local, regional, and national networks offering network access on a negotiated basis
  • Spectrum and network service and communication protocols including limitations and allocations to assure maximum performance and availability

Dynamic Spectrum and Bandwidth Allocation

Referencing the database of all available resources, constraints, opportunities, etc., the dynamic spectrum allocation application determines which spectrum provides a best fit for the network and the end user bandwidth requirement. This is based on a number of real time radio, network and user parameters including:

  • Absolute and relative location of radios and users
  • End user bandwidth requirements
  • Network available capacity
  • Price of access
  • Real time network metrics

Universal Spectrum Access uses these and other factors to provide the network the best bandwidth allocation. The network information presented to the end user device is used to determine which network resource is best for the desired application.

By placing the Universal Spectrum Access intelligence at the network core and at the edge, the network operator and end user receive the best service and highest performance at the lowest price.
